What’s Left of Us

Whats Left of Us
“Blunt and honest…A stunning piece of work.” T.J. English

“Deeply moving. . .What s Left of Us is a rush of blood to the head and heart, the kind only true art can deliver.” –Andre Dubus

“An amazing story not just of survival, but redemption.” Mary McGarry Morris

Richie Farrell grew up in a working-class Irish neighborhood in Massachusetts. To overcome a birth defect, his father pushed him to become a star athlete, grooming him for Notre Dame. Sometimes, he would use a belt as a learning tool. Once, he used an electric carving knife…

The headline read Crippled at Birth: Farrell Now Grid Star. A month later, I tore up my knee and fell in love with pain medication.

By time he was thirty, Richie was a heroin addict, stealing from friends, shooting up during visits to his children, living in abandoned mill buildings, running from the shameful secrets of his family. Hopeless and in pain, he attempted suicide. When that failed, he was ordered to detox.

He looked at me. Be honest, he said, or you’ll be on the street in 15 minutes. Jail, death, or honesty. You choose.”

In this harrowing, astounding memoir, Richard Farrell chronicles a life of desperation, violence, lies and the pure oblivion of heroin. A gritty, hauntingly written tale of a descent into hell and a slow, uncertain climb out of it, What’s Left Of Us is a true story of redemption: of how low a man can get, and how hard he must fight to escape a shattered life…

“[Farrell] carries you on this rollercoaster ride of ugliness and beauty. Don’t miss it. Phyllis Karas

Richard Farrell is an author, filmmaker, teacher, journalist, and adjunct professor of English at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. Priceless: A Novel

Priceless: A Novel
Tall, blond, and willowy, this twenty-two-year-old seems to have everything going for her—she’s rich and gorgeous, a talented singer, and has just returned to her Park Avenue penthouse after a year studying in Paris. But since her mother’s tragic death years ago, her father, an extremely successful financier, has been her only family—and if she’s being honest, her only true friend.

All that changes when Jacob Williams is arrested on charges of fraud, and the SEC freezes the family’s bank accounts. With her father in jail and her partying pals suddenly scarce, Charlotte escapes Manhattan and heads to the one place she doesn’t think anyone will come looking: New Orleans.

Determined to rebuild her life, Charlotte moves in with her beloved former nanny and finds a job in a local restaurant. Between trying to make ends meet and hiding from her past, she meets Kat, a fellow fashionista who introduces her to the best of the Big Easy’s bohemian style. With Kat by her side, Charlotte begins to haunt nightclubs, securing singing gigs that soon begin to heat up—as does her friendship with a local boy, Jackson.

But Charlotte’s being followed by an angry stalker who wants nothing more than to destroy her for her father’s crimes. And with Mardi Gras just around the corner, the masquerade has only just begun . . .

From the stylish avenues of Manhattan and dark clubs of the French Quarter to the bright lights of Los Angeles, the multitalented Nicole Richie’s scintillating tale shows that the very life you run from is the one that won’t let you hide.

Madonna v Guy: The Inside Story of the Most Sensational Divorce in Showbiz

Cynics predicted instant doom for macrobiotic Madonna and pub-loving moviemaker Guy Richieâ??s union, but it lasted almost eight extraordinary years, all kicked off by a four-day celebrity carnival of a Highland marriage at a historic Scottish castle. The phenomenal partnership of the self-created entertainment sensation and the very British bloke remains a global fascination. Its conclusion has only heightened the interested of what went onÂ?and what went wrongÂ?during the marriage. This rollercoaster ride of a story covers Madonnaâ??s private life in America and London, her tastes, tantrums, fears, joys, and the truth behind her turbulent relationships. Having reported on Madonna for nearly two decades, Douglas Thompson now gives the full account of their turbulent time together. He explains why Madonna, the mistress of reinvention, decided at 50 to rewrite the mid-life rules.
